Maroje Brčić

Maroje Brčić was born in Dubrovnik, where he still lives today. He started learning guitar at the age of seven, and his first teacher was his father, Stefanin Brčić. He graduated from the secondary music school in the class of prof. István Römer, and graduated from the Academy of Music in Zagreb in the class of prof. Petrinjak dinner.

He teaches guitar at the Academy of Arts of the University of Split, is a regular member of the judging boards at national and international competitions and often gives professional lectures and seminars. His students and students won over a hundred first prizes at state and international competitions. Since 2019 he has been the editor of the magazine Gitara, the yearbook of the Croatian Association of Guitar Educators.
He has been on concert stages for over thirty years as a soloist, member of various chamber bodies and as a soloist with orchestra (Symphony Orchestra of Croatian Radio and Television, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Varaždin Chamber Orchestra, Zagreb Soloists, Mostar Chamber Orchestra, Sarajevo Philharmonic, Timisoara Philharmonic, Timisoara Philharmonic harmony, Macedonian National Opera Orchestra and Moscow's Gnjesinski virtuosos). In addition to his homeland, he performed in Europe, Asia and North America.

He encouraged numerous authors to write for the guitar, among them Željko Brkanović, Nikša Njirić, Ivo Josipović, Berislav Šipuš, Philip Bracanin, Goran Listes, Anđelko Klobučar and Zoran Juranic.
He is the winner of the Rector's Award of the University of Zagreb (1991), the Milko Trnin Diploma (2008), the Academy of Knowledge (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2017 and 2019) and the Orlando Award (2009 and 2017).
He has published a book in which he deals with topics in the field of interpretation and playing technique, and has recorded seven compact discs for record companies in Croatia and Austria.
